The Brokers: People, Spaces and Values
The Brokers: People, Spaces and Values are a series of events/walking tours/discussions, one of the strands of our Research on Value.
Over the next two years, we will work with a wide range of international partners - individuals, associations and institutions, to explore value from various and perhaps even contradictory perspectives. Our Research on Value will always be embedded, specific and localised, and it is our intention to produce a range of publicly available resources that others can use and develop.
The Brokers: People, Spaces and Values will be lead by a specific 'Broker/Brokers' and explore how different social practices of evaluation, are situated, localized and embedded in particular places, buildings, public spaces and institutions.
The first event, 'Spaces & Values: how God, Law and Landed Interests are situated in London's EC2 is in September, consisting of three walking tours/discussions, back to back.
Spaces & Values: how God, Law and Landed Interests are situated in London's EC2
- When: 8th September, 2012
- Where: EC2
- What: We will perambulate around the heart of the City of London, unpicking notions of God, law and real estate speculation, while sharing our Brokers' situated expertise.
- How: The walking-tour format aims to investigate the specific situation of God, art and landed interests in EC2: we might wander through St. Paul's Cathedral, St. Bart's Hospital or The Bank of England. Each walk will last an hour and a half, and comprise a combination of prepared tour, and animated discussion.
- Why: This 'teaser' anticipates a series of walking tours and other initiatives that will feed into Critical Practice's ongoing Research on Value
