Here's the text for the invite letter - CP members should use the document featuring the graphic identity instead. Please include the hashtag before #TransActing and use camel case. Also, please ensure the links are working in whatever version you send.
Dear (insert name of invitee),
I am writing to you as a member of Critical Practice, a cluster of artists, designers, curators and others based at Chelsea College of Arts. We have a longstanding interest in public goods, spaces, services and knowledge, and a track record of producing original participatory events.
Please see below for information about #TransActing: A Market of Values. This a one-day, bustling pop-up market will take place on 11 July in London and feature artists, designers, publishers, civil-society groups, and others who creatively explore structures that produce ‘value’. We aim to question how diverse values are constructed, maintained and propagated. Through your contribution, the market’s many stalls will animate economies beyond the financial.
We would like to invite you to contribute because (include discussion of relevant project/connection/etc.) fits well with the ethos of our event.
The format that your contribution takes is flexible and will vary among 'stallholders'; we envisage that activities will take many forms. Your contribution may take the form of a talk, performance or another representation of practice. This could also be an opportunity to share information about your practice or organisation, with your market stall providing a context for this exchange. We can provide some help with the production of stalls and would be pleased to discuss possibilities with you.
#TransActing will take place between 12 -5 on 11th July 2015 in London at Chelsea College of Arts on the Rootstein Hopkins Parade Ground, across from Tate Britain.
I look forward to hearing from you and do let me know if you would like to discuss #TransActing further,
(include your name here)
On behalf of Critical Practice, London, UK
More About #TransActing: A Market of Values
Saturday, 11th July 2015, 12 - 5pm, Chelsea College of Arts- London (across from Tate Britain)
This bustling pop-up market will feature artists, designers, civil-society groups, academics, ecologists, activists and others exploring existing structures of evaluation and producing desirable alternatives. Organised by Critical Practice, #TransActing is taking place on the historic Rootstein Hopkins Parade Ground and will showcase enterprises likes skillshares, repair hubs, hacklabs, blood and food donation banks, expert and enthusiast knowledge, an estate agent, freegan food and other resources. These diverse forms of value production will animate economies beyond the financial one that dominates contemporary life.
#TransActing will be hosted in bespoke stalls built by Critical Practice, Public Works and other contributors. These will be interspersed with spaces of assembly and exchange - a speakers' corner, a social cinema - with multiple currencies circulating. It's a wealth beyond capital that will be traded at this market.
#TransActing is presented by Critical Practice and forms part of CCW Graduate School's Public Programme. The project is made possible by generous support from Arts Council England and CCW Graduate School. Many others have contributed time, money and other resources besides.
